As an audiologist with over 20 years of experience that is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and American Academy of Audiology, Dr. Jennifer Elfert’s areas of expertise include the assessment and treatment of tinnitus, misophonia and hearing loss. Dr. Jen’s educational background includes Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Hofstra University and a Doctor of Audiology Degree from the University of Florida. She started out practicing at a well-known ENT office in New York City. After moving to New Jersey, Dr. Jen began working in a private practice and teaching as an adjunct professor in NYC. She later joined JFK’s Neuroscience Center, where she fine-tuned her skills evaluating balance disorders. From there, she joined Kimball Medical Center, where she stayed until 2005 when she opened her own practice growing it to 3 locations in central New Jersey.
Tinnitus has been a focus in her career since graduate school. There are very few professionals that take the time and understand the mechanism behind tinnitus and provide patients with ways to take control back from the tinnitus. Over the years she has learned that successfully diagnosing and providing treatment for tinnitus and misophonia patients involves a collaborative approach between the patient and their professionals. Dr. Jen has grown tired of countless people coming into her office or contacting her online with statements like “my doctor told me there is nothing that can be done and I just need to live with it”. That statement is how the Tinnitus and Misophonia Treatment Center was born. Realizing there is a tremendous need for patients with Tinnitus and Misophonia not just in New Jersey but all over the country. She looks forward to helping you reduce your awareness and disturbance of your Tinnitus / Misophonia.
